Acts-28

Standing Firm: A Devotional Study on Acts 28

Introduction

As we follow Paul's missionary journeys in the Book of Acts, we discover his final leg of the journey. In Acts 28, we witness the culmination of Paul's faith and the establishment of the Gospel's message in a new location. As we delve into this chapter, let's explore the principles of faith and perseverance evident in Paul's actions.

Section 1: A Forsaken Island (Acts 28:1-10)

Devotional Thought: Paul and company land on an uninhabited island in the Mediterranean Sea. Amidst hardship, Paul takes the opportunity to share the Gospel with the native people. Today, reflect on the importance of being a light in the midst of hardships and sharing the Gospel in the darkest places.

Reflection Questions:

  • How have you been a light in difficult situations?
  • What are some ways you can continue to share the Gospel in hardship-filled places?

Section 2: A Trial (Acts 28:11-16)

Devotional Thought: Paul is taken captive and brought before the Roman governor, Felix. Paul requests an audience with the governor, and Felix puts off his decision. Despite the delay, Paul stands firm in his faith and communicates the Gospel to Felix's household. Today, reflect on how surrounding ourselves with other believers aids our faith and strengthens our testimony.

Reflection Questions:

  • Who are the people around you that help strengthen your faith?
  • How can you foster community with others to aid in your faith and testimony?

Section 3: A Jailer's Conversion (Acts 28:17-31)

Devotional Thought: After another imprisonment, Paul sends a message to the jailer, and the jailer is transformed by the Gospel. Paul's message to the jailer's household ushers in new believers. Today, take stock of the people around you who may need to hear the Gospel and reflect on how you can share the truth with them.

Reflection Questions:

  • Who can you share the Gospel with today?
  • How can you communicate the message of salvation to those around you?

Conclusion:

In Acts 28, we are encouraged by the steadfastness of Paul's faith. His determination to spread the Gospel, no matter the circumstances, leaves us with the charge to do the same. May we carry Paul's example and stand firm in our faith, sharing it wherever we may find ourselves.
