Joel

The Book of Joel partly functions as a historical record of a natural disaster and partly as a prophetic message urging the people of Judah to repentance and faith in God during difficult times. It describes a locust plague that destroyed crops and threatened the people's survival, but God promised to deliver his people and restore what had been lost. The book ends with a call to gather in worship and praise, foreshadowing a future outpouring of God's Spirit and a celebration of God's salvation. The central themes of Joel include God's sovereignty, his faithfulness to his people, and the importance of obedience, repentance, and faith during times of crisis.
